Stars

Today's Picture:

This is my first attempt in digital "art" - none of the elements in the composition above are my photos - I downloaded/painted/created them.
When making such pictures the most important thing (besides having the idea of the final image in your head) is paying attention to the details - perfectionism is highly recommended, since anything that has even a slight flaw will pop out in the final composition.
For instance, when rendering the planet on which the viewer is situated, I used 4 separate images. They had different color balance, different lights/shadows pattern, and weren't the same size. I used a few of the endless Photoshop tools to fix these problems, but even then I needed to paint some shadows by hand so that they match the direction of the "sun". The result is - a rocky desert planet which doesn't look like a photographic Frankenstein's monster.
Although not as good as I wanted it to be, this first digital composition thought me valuable lessons - which will definitely be useful once I get my Wacom tablet.

Crescent

Today's Picture:

Continuing the cookie "theme", this is also the last of the sweet series. Sorry I can't post more, but my photography objects were eaten during the process, and I hardly spared just two for you all to enjoy.

Crimson Bell

Today's Picture:

Although this photo is a little bit out of the season, I was too busy to post it (and to take the shot in the first place, ofc. ). This is one of the hand-made Christmas cookies which are a kind of tradition in my family. Anyone with a little time, a bit of Google image search knowledge and LOTS of free time can make decent cookies.

Notice: The creation of the cookies displayed in the picture above require, in addition to the listed items, flour, eggs, sugar, natural food paintings, cookie drawing tools, an oven and serious drawing skills, the latter needed the most. Any results differing from the picture above are entirely due to the user's creativity or disobedience to follow the recipe provided by Custom Cookies corporation.

Fairyland Estates Inc.

Today's Picture:

This was a building I spotted while on a boat trip through the channels of Stockholm. It was on a remote island in the brackish waters of the bay, and if it wasn't -10'C the photo would've turned blurry (luckily my hands were frozen so no shaking ). Excuse me for doing a little re-paint but I couldn't resist ^^

World Map

Today's Picture:

It is amazing what strange forms can a lichen take, isn't it? You may take your time looking at this photo, but you can never know for sure if it's fake or not. It's tough digital times we live in, you may not be sure even if your dog is real or a perfect Japanese-copy-robot ( by the way they do make robots like this, they just don't produce real looking dogs - try to Google "PARO" to see what I'm talking about.)

Gravity Defied

Today's Picture:

Now this is one of the hardest photos I've taken mainly because I didn't use Photoshop to make it. The specific surface of this little metallic sphere bends the light in such way, that you can see the whole room reflected, and even things a little behind the ball. This might look OK and fun, until you want to photograph this. The result - the lens of your camera takes up 70% of the frame. I read a lot of stuff about how to make this shot and the most important - how to exclude me from the frame. The exact way of making this shot are top secret but for a small donation ( around 10k Euro) I could reveal the secret. Do I hear you saying "No way you greedy freak!!" ? OK then, I'll keep it secret - 100% free :P

Geometry

Today's Picture:

This is the roof above one of the wings of the Museum of Natural History in Stockholm. Now this is a very funny image. Due to the angle distortion (I wasn't exactly under it so it's normal) you can try download the image and scroll it up and down, or zoom it in/out very quick. It produces some very interesting optical illusions. It's not the same if you stand there and see it live, so this is the only chance you've got :)

Just Another Sunrise

Today's Picture:

Yes! Finally I overcame my inborn laziness and got up early enough to capture the sunrise. The yellow effect and deep saturation were intended, they were just a camera trick (white balance & vividness) but it did the job. If it doesn't look good on your PC, the problem is in your TV obviously :P I use different monitor settings.

Redberry Ice Cream

Today's Picture:

And yet another session of photos - this time from Sweden, but don't expect much architecture or landscape. When it gets dark at 3 p.m. there's hardly and daylight (provided you follow my daily routine of waking up at 1 p.m.). This was a red berry bush situated right in front of the house where I was staying. I used a little help from the in-built flash to get some nice reflections from the ice crystals on the berry - when it's -19'C outside everything literally turns into icecream.
